2024 Recap - moving, building friendships, finding a church home, and career growth
As the year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on all the incredible moments, lessons, and blessings 2024 brought my way. This has been a year of growth, connections, and new beginnings, and I’m glad I’m able to share some of the highlights with you.
Moved to Houston
In March, I took a leap of faith and moved to Houston. I wanted a change of scenery without being too far from my family, and Houston felt like the perfect choice. The energy here is vibrant, the opportunities are endless, and I’ve loved getting to explore a new(ish) city while staying connected to home.
Met Some Great Friends
Houston has been good to me in more ways than one. I already had a few best friends here, but thanks to my job, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a group of beautiful, amazing people who have become my Houston crew. These people inspire me daily, and I know they’ll be lifelong friends. Building these connections has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my year.
Got Promoted at Work
One of the biggest surprises of 2024 was my promotion at work. I’ve stepped into a senior-level role, and while it’s been a challenge, I’ve taken it on as best as I can. This milestone is a testament to my support system that’s cheered me on every step of the way, because it has been a journey at my job.
Soft Launched Fresh x Espresso
This blog, Fresh x Espresso, was born this year! Launching it has filled a part of me that was missing in my day to day. I’m excited to document the highlights of my life and leisure here and to share stories that can inspire, support and motivate. Thank you for joining me on this journey; there’s so much more to come!
Joined Hope City Church
Leaving my church in Dallas, Social Dallas, was one of the hardest parts of my move. It’s a diverse, welcoming space that always felt like home. But I’ve found a wonderful new church family at Hope City in Houston. Their values and diversity remind me of Social Dallas, and I’m grateful to have found a spiritual community that feels just as enriching and supportive.
Volunteered Across Houston
I’ve had giving my time back top of mind this year, and I made it a priority to volunteer across Houston. I’ve had the honor of working with the Houston Food Bank, Kids' Meals, and the Nehemiah Center. These experiences have been humbling and have deepened my love for this city and its people.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Year
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to continue growing and exploring. Here are just a few things I’m planning for:
Dry January: A reset for my mind and body to kick off the year strong. Dry January was so beneficial to me in 2024 and I actually ended up extending being sober curious for six months. I’ve learned how to make a few mocktails this year and I’m excited to try some new ones in 2025. If you’re curious of why I chose to participate in Dry January, here’s my story along with an espresso martini mocktail recipe.
Wellness: Prioritizing my physical, mental, and emotional health. Although I had a great year, there were definitely times where I did not take care of myself and my health has been impacted by that. Next year isn’t a new year, new me approach, but a getting back on the track I was on in 2024. I’m excited to share some of that journey.
More Fresh x Espresso: I’ll definitely be expanding this blog with more stories, adventures, and insights. Join me for the ride!
Thank you for being part of my 2024 journey. I can’t wait to see what’s next and to share it all with you. Here’s to a beautiful year ahead!
