Tequila lavender lemon drop | Cocktail recipe

When it comes to hosting, I enjoy creating cocktails that aren’t only delicious but also easy to make. My friends love tequila, so for my Austin birthday weekend, I created a classic with a bit of a twist. While the French 75 I blogged about earlier was a hit for the girls who never had them before, I also decided to create a Lemon Drop that ended up being the favorite of the weekend.

What Makes This Lemon Drop Special?

Two things: tequila and lavender.

First, the tequila. Most Lemon Drops call for vodka, but my friends and I aren’t fans, so I knew the drink wasn’t going to hit if I served them an alcohol we didn’t like. Swapping vodka for tequila gave the drink a warm kick that balanced beautifully with the citrusy lemon.

Second, I switched out the usual simple syrup for lavender syrup. The floral notes from the lavender added a subtle sophistication and depth to the cocktail. It’s the ingredient that made them stop mid-sip and say, “oh, that’s good.”

Tequila Lavender Lemon Drop

Here’s how you can recreate this crowd-pleaser at home:

- Ingredients -

1 1/2 oz tequila (I use a blanco)

1 1/2 oz lemon juice

1/4 oz orange liqueur

1/4 oz lavender syrup (store-bought or homemade)

— tools —

Cocktail Shaker

Double Strainer

Ice

Your favorite coup glass

— instructions —

  1. Fill a shaker with ice and add the tequila, lemon juice, orange liqueur, and lavender syrup.

  2. Shake it up! A good 15 seconds will ensure everything is well-chilled and blended.

  3. Strain the mixture into your prepared glass (I pour these in a coupe or martini glass).

  4. Enjoy!

Why This Drink Was the Favorite of the Weekend

Let me set the scene: it’s game night, the room is filled with laughter, we just came back from dinner at a delicious Mediterranean restaurant, and and everyone’s wanting to continue to celebrate but wants to do something more chill. My girls took one sip of this drink and immediately told me to plan to make another one. The tequila made it approachable (especially for those who aren’t vodka fans), and the lavender added a unique flavor that felt celebratory.

By the end of the night, I had a lineup of empty glasses and a group of happy friends telling me the recipe was a hit. Safe to say, this Lemon Drop variation earned a permanent spot in our cocktail rotation.

So, whether you’re hosting a game night, celebrating a birthday, or just want a fresh take on a classic, try this Tequila Lavender Lemon Drop, it’s not going to disappoint.
